The Westholme Starter Strop - Aimed at beginners, but equally as popular with more seasoned users. A simple but elegant design, utilising Latigo, a hot stuffed vegetable tan leather, in this case produced by the famous Horween tannery in Chicago, USA. This is a ‘barbers end’ strop, meaning that the strop features no handle or D ring. This can worry the beginner, but the barbers end design goes back to the traditional strop designs of the early 1900s. Preferred by many (including myself), the bottom of the strop is gripped fully in the hand. Bringing your hand into direct contact with the leather, you are able to feel all the strokes of the razor across the surface during the stropping action. A tactile experience that promotes ‘feel’ and awareness of the pressure you are exerting on the razor’s bevel as you strop.

Suggested grip for 'Barbers End' strops (entirely down to the individual however - so use the grip you feel most comfortable with)
